Todd Matthew Matteson, aged 59, passed away peacefully at St. Thomas Rutherford in Murfreesboro, TN on September 2, 2026 after a battle with metastatic pancreatic cancer.

Todd was born in Denver, CO on April 12, 1967. He was the youngest son of the late David Byrne Matteson and Diane Wells. He lived in Colorado, California, Arizona, and Florida before moving to Brentwood, TN when he was in middle school. He graduated from Brentwood High School in 1986. He attended Middle Tennessee State University for one year before transferring to Auburn University to be with his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Dierdri Offill Matteson. He graduated from Auburn University’s School of Engineering with a bachelor’s degree in aviation management in 1991. He worked as a quality engineer at Calsonic Kansei

(Marelli) North America for 24 years before retiring in 2021.

Todd and Dierdri were married on September 21, 1991. They moved to Murfreesboro, TN in 1997 where they raised their two children and made their forever home. Todd was an amazing husband, father, brother, and son. He enjoyed relaxing in his backyard, traveling with his wife, and watching football. He was very excited for Auburn football to begin (War Eagle!). He cared for many and enjoyed the company of friends.

Todd is survived by his wife, Dierdri Janette (Offill) Matteson of Murfreesboro, TN; his son, Nicholas David Matteson and his wife, Hannah, of Nolensville, TN; his daughter, Taylor Matteson of Nashville, TN; and his parents-in-law, David Alfred Offill and Janet Offill of Brentwood, TN. Todd is also survived by his siblings, John Matteson of Phoenix, AZ; Mike Matteson and his wife, Cathy, of Franklin, TN; David Offill and his wife, Karen, of South Lake, TX; Worth Wells and his wife, Kara, of Dunwoody, GA; Lisa Heiser and her husband, Mark, of Gainesville, GA; Heather Brooks of Lebanon, TN; and Dana Poulin of Houston, TX. Additionally, Todd is survived by his nieces, nephews, and many, many friends. Todd was preceded in death by his father, David Byrne Matteson; his mother, Diane Wells; his step-mother, Sarah Matteson; and his step-father, Welton Wells.

A funeral service for Todd will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Murfreesboro, TN on September 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network to support other families navigating these challenging diagnoses.
