Ralph Mills passed away peacefully on Monday, October 26, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated public service, profound strength, and deep devotion to his family.
A lifelong protector of his community, Ralph spent many years as a dedicated member of Sandersville Fire & Rescue. His commitment to the safety and well-being of others was recognized in October 2018 when he was formally honored with a plaque celebrating his many years of loyal and selfless service to the department.
Ralph faced life’s deepest sorrows with remarkable grace and resilience. He was a devoted husband to his beloved late wife, Carol D. Mills, who preceded him in death in 1993, and a loving father who endured the heartbreaking loss of his son, Ralph Allen Mills Jr., in 1999. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.T. Mills, and his siblings, Bobby Mills, John Henry Mills, Frances Mills, James Mills, Ina Kelly, and Linda Shepherd.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Christine Mills; his sons, Allen Mills, Gregory Mills, and Douglas Mills; his stepdaughters, Lisa and Lynn; and his stepson, Thomas. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Shirley Faust.
His memory will be cherished by his grandchildren: Ashley, Victoria, and Cameron (children of Christine); Alana and Dalton (children of Allen); Abby, Ashley, and Brendan (children of Gregory); and Shasta, Tamara, Elaina, Taylor, Alex, and Adam (children of the late Ralph Jr.).
Ralph was a deeply loved uncle who held a special place in the hearts of his many nieces, nephews, and extended family members, always offering them warmth, support, and guidance throughout his life. His legacy of honor will live on in the hearts of his family, his fellow firefighters, and the community he spent a lifetime serving.
A small service to celebrate Ralph’s life and honor his service will be held in Sandersville, Mississippi. The date, time, and location of the service will be announced by the family as soon as arrangements are finalized.
