Mary Ellen Kerr

Mary Ellen Kerr, age 82, peacefully passed away on September 15, 2026. Born on July 28, 1944, Mary Ellen lived a life deeply rooted in faith, family, and compassionate service to others.

Mary Ellen dedicated much of her life to spiritual leadership and supporting those in need. As a chaplain, she ran a profound jail ministry for several years, touching countless lives in both Florida and New York. She was a dedicated teacher and counselor of the Bible, sharing her wisdom, grace, and steady guidance with everyone she met. A gifted communicator, Mary Ellen was also a published writer, using the written word to inspire, teach, and encourage others on their faith journeys.

To her family, she was the absolute heart of the home. In the words of her eldest granddaughter Rebecca, "she was the epitome of a grandma; from baking pies in the kitchen to giving guidance with grace, and every little thing in between." Her warmth, love, and unwavering support leave a lasting legacy for the generations that follow her.

Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Kerr, and her first husband, David Myers, brother Loren Jacobs, mother and father Howard and Lois Jacobs.

She is survived by her daughters, Tammy Dixon (John) and Deanne Stratton. Sister, Dolores Carpenter. Nephews and Nieces. She was the cherished grandmother of Brad, Rebecca (Dillon), Rachel, Johnathan (Shiloh), Sarah, and Jessica, and the proud great-grandmother of five great-grandchildren. Her memory will be forever treasured by her family, friends, and the many lives she transformed through her ministry and writing.
