And that is all he wanted his obituary to say, but it’s just too stark. Mark was born in West Tennessee to Bill & Betty Perkins and, following his dad’s jobs, moved from Newbern to West Memphis to Dyersburg, with Newbern holding his favorite childhood memories.
Aside from serving in the U.S. Army, he invested himself in academia, attending the University of Arkansas, UT Martin, Murray State, & UT Knoxville for a variety of degrees, and was briefly a professor at Lincoln Memorial University and Mid-Continent Baptist Bible College. He finished his career at UT Knoxville in the library sciences department and left for Weakley County to enjoy a quiet life of writing & a small beloved church family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by a brother and sister.
There will be a private burial of his ashes at a later time.
Thank you to our friends, family, and caregivers. Along with his trust and peace in Christ, you have made this journey not just bearable but beautiful.
