Linda C. Bennett, 47, Franklin, TN, went home to heaven on Sunday, October 23 after a well fought battle with cancer.
A loving wife, mother, sister and friend, she blessed all who knew her. Her unique bohemian spirit outpoured love at every opportunity. She had a special gift of prioritizing people over the mundane trappings of life, and she always provided an unhurried ear to listen, providing encouragement whatever the circumstance.
She found her life's calling as a licensed counselor in recent years and devoted herself to her work with an insatiable desire to learn and know more about her profession, to best serve her clients and mentor those coming behind her in training. Her colleagues at The Refuge Center, a non-profit Christ-centered counseling center, loved her dearly and recently honored her by creating the annual Linda C. Bennett Compassionate Care Award.
A devoted mother, she adored her children Amelia and Michael and instilled in them her strength, independence and compassion for others. She considered them her greatest achievement and often commented on how proud she was of them and how much she loved them.
Married again in 2014, Linda found overflowing love, comfort and strength in the arms of Richard Bennett, whom she loved dearly. Together they relished their new role as grandparents, loved spending time together at the family cabin and recently enjoyed a belated honeymoon to Alaska.
To friends Linda was a compassionate source of strength and a beacon of light. Her unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ served as a witness to all who knew her. Things of this world held little charm for her, but her friends meant everything and she loved them honestly and authentically.
Linda is survived by her loving husband Richard, children Amelia and Michael Crowther, step-children Tyler and Maddie Bennett, grandson Cohen, brother Michael Cushing (Justine Reese) and niece and nephew Stella and Ben Cushing. Linda was predeceased by her parents Bob and Marie Cushing of Sanford, Florida.
