Laura Sue Miller, 85, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on November 13, 2025. In a deeply meaningful and tender Providence, she entered eternity on the same date her beloved sister Barbara passed 18 years earlier.
Born in Toledo, Ohio and raised in the countryside of Oregon, Ohio, Laura’s faith in Jesus overflowed with compassion for everyone she met.
Laura was the devoted mother of two precious children, born to her husband James D’Amato.
Gifted with creativity she became an accomplished, florist, painter and homemaker, creating warmth, beauty, and comfort in every space she touched.
Then in 1994 Laura married Thomas Leslie Miller and together they built a peaceful life in the mountains of Western North Carolina, where they found love and companionship, that suited them perfectly.
After being widowed in 2013, Laura relocated to Tennessee to be near her daughter and great-grandchildren, enjoying the serenity of country living and the closeness of family.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family rests in the comfort that she is now gathered to her own and rejoicing in the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Laura is survived by her son James D’Amato and wife Margaret, and by her daughter Kari Brandy and husband Anthony. She was blessed with grandchildren Rachael Smith and Carmen Brandy. Laura also cherished her great-grandchildren: Eleanor, Oliver and Freddie, Izaac and Austin.
Being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was among the greatest honors and joys of her life.
She will be dearly and forever missed.
Laura will be laid to rest with her departed husband in Candler NC at a later determined date.
