Katherine Yarber Richardson, lovingly known as Diane, but most proud to be called Mom and Granny, passed away on January 9, 2026, at the age of 72.
Born on May 27, 1953, Diane built a life centered around love, family, and home. She was the true definition of a homemaker. Her home was always a place of comfort—where meals were made with love, doors were always open, and everyone felt welcomed and cared for. Taking care of others was not just something she did; it was who she was.
Diane found her greatest joy in her family and poured her heart into being a mother and a granny. She had a quiet strength, a nurturing spirit, and a way of making people feel safe and loved simply by being near her.
She is survived by her children Tammy Grant and her husband Sam Grant, Hannah Richardson, and Stephen Richardson; her grandchildren Roger Turley (Shane) and Raylin Grant (Shea), and great grandchildren who were the light of her life; and by numerous nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bobby Richardson; her father Lee Lambert; her mother Katherine Hudson; her son Charles Lambert (Peanut); her brothers Johnny Lambert and Jimmy Lambert; and her infant son, William Yarber—all of whom she is now joyfully reunited with in Heaven, resting in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Diane will be remembered for her selflessness, her unwavering love, and the home she built with her heart. Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished so deeply. While her absence is felt here, we find comfort knowing she is at peace in Heaven and has been welcomed home by Jesus. She will be forever loved and deeply missed.
Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:thou anointest my head with oil;my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
