Hugh McHale Reed, Jr.

January 27, 1959 - April 2, 2025

Hugh McHale Reed Jr., 66, passed away in Murfreesboro, TN, on April 2, 2025.  Born on January 27, 1959, in El Paso, TX, he was the oldest of Hugh McHale Reed and Elizabeth (“Betty”) Reed’s eight children.

Hugh was raised in McLean, VA, and attended Langley High School and Virginia Tech. His adventurous spirit eventually took him to Dallas, TX, where he lived for nearly forty years. He worked in IT project management, building networks for the airline industry traveling the globe in the process. His work brought him to dozens of countries, fueling a lifelong love of travel and exploration.

When he wasn’t working, Hugh could be found wind-surfing, playing golf, backgammon, or savoring a good cigar—passions that defined his free spirit. He was also a beloved son, big brother, and uncle remembered for his fun loving attitude, warmth, humor, and advice.

Hugh is survived by his siblings: Timothy Reed (Elaine), Brian Reed (Alice), Mary Elizabeth (Missy) Norair (Steve), Patricia (Tricia) Centeno (Jenaro), Kathleen (Katy) Reed (Kevin Tifft), Walter Reed, and Matthew Reed. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty.
