Gregory Dale Ireland, age 65, of Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away January 20, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, faithful Christian, and loyal friend.
Gregory was preceded in death by his parents, Roland Dale Ireland and Laura Lorraine Ireland, of Smyrna, Tennessee. He is survived by his beloved wife, Diana Ireland; his children, Austin Ireland, Brett Ireland, Chris Ireland, and Joyce Da Silva; and his cherished grandchildren: Asher,Elijah, Jonah, Blakely and Deluca. Surviving siblings include brothers Lyron Potts and Derrick (Rick) Ireland as well as sister Pamela Rumbaugh. In all aspects, his family was the center of his life, and he took great pride in each of them.
Greg was a 1978 graduate of Smyrna High School and attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville before finishing his B.S. degree at Middle Tennessee State University.
Greg recently retired after many years of dedicated service in the field of information technology. Throughout his career, he worked with excellence and integrity as an IT Manager at CHS (Community Health Systems), with other previous career stops including companies such as Bridgestone and MAHLE. He was known for his strong work ethic, sharp problem-solving skills, and willingness to help others.
A lifelong Tennessee Volunteers fan, Gregory rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Vols. His passion for the team was matched by his deep and abiding faith. As a born-again Christian, he lived his life guided by his belief in Christ, and his faith brought him strength, comfort, and peace.
Greg’s legacy will live on through the love he poured into his family, the lives he touched through his kindness, and the faith he shared with those around him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A Celebration of Life and burial service will be announced by the family at a later date.
