Donald Curtis Jenkins

Donald Curtis Jenkins, 73, of Madison, Tennessee, passed away on July 31, 2026. He was born March 9, 1953, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Billie “Bill” Jackson Jenkins and Aggie Frances Scott Sumruld, and grew up in Hartsville, Tennessee. He was a 1972 graduate of Putnam County High School.

Don loved cars, motorcycles, boats, and racing. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and dedicated supporter of UT football. However, the only thing he loved more than racing and football was his family. He was a devoted son, brother, father, uncle and grandfather. Donald had a special place in his heart for his cats too. He often called them his “kids,” and they were very much a part of his family.

While his family was important, so were his friends and neighbors. He was always willing to help those in need. He never met a stranger and would talk to anyone as if he had known them his whole life. If you needed a hand, he was always willing to help. He had a strong personality but that same determination was part of what made him dependable to the people he loved.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Billie “Bill” Jackson Jenkins and Aggie Frances Scott Sumruld. He is survived by his stepmother, Eunetta Jenkins (Cookeville); stepfather, Carl Sumruld (Hendersonville); brother, Scott (Teresa) Jenkins (Cookeville); sister, Jill (David)Speight (Murfreesboro); daughter, Roxanne (J.P. Dunlap) Jenkins (Clarksville); and grandson,Yahya Dunlap.

He lived life in his own way and left behind memories that will stay with those who loved him.

He will be deeply missed.

A graveside memorial service will be held on August 28th, 2026 at 10:30am for friends and family at Hartsville Memorial Gardens. The service will immediately be followed by a Celebration of Life at the Trousdale County Community Center from 11:30am-1pm. The family will accept visitors at the community center starting at 9am.
